July 2005 - End of an Era at the former Union Carbide Tech Center

Here is the picture from the Sunday Gazette Mail July 30,2005 of the demolition of the water tower that once stood at the Tech Center in South Charleston, WV. This was a landmark to me that as a kid told me I was going to Carbide Camp (Camelot).

We would go there and catch the KRT buses and they would then take us so far, then we would walk in to camp. We would be dead tired and wet from crossing the creek in front of Camp Galahad and the big crossing at Camelot. Then that is when we would kindle our old friendships from the previous year, and make new friends that year. And always dreaming of becoming a honor camper and maybe one year getting on Staff as a JC, CIT or Counselor.

Those were the days.
