REMEMBERING CARBIDE's SUMMER CAMPS -- 28th Year Reunion!
Save the Dates!
Once again, we will be hosting an informal mini-reunion during the
weekend of July 16-18, 2010.
We'll have the usual meet-and-greet get-together on Friday night, and the
visit to Blue Creek on Saturday/Sunday!
We'll also do a little planning for
the BIG 30th reunion in 2012
-- 30 years since the last camping summer on the Creek!
FRIDAY, JULY 16: An informal get together beginning at
approximately 6:00pm at the FOP
Hall in Charleston. Their bar and
beer prices are excellent, and we'll have some pizza and wings on
order!
Directions: From I-64 Dunbar Exit, take Roxalana Rd. to WV St. Rt. 62. Turn left onto 62, go 1/2mile and turn right
onto Woodrum's Lane. Go 1/4 mile to FOP on the right. There should be signs
posted.
You can also take WV 62 at the intersection
in North
Charleston where the Cold Spot is. Just follow it approx. 1 mile to Woodrum's
Lane on the right, and go 1/4 mile to FOP on the right.

SATURDAY, JULY 17: Visit the former campsites on Blue Creek.
Campers can make their way out to The Creek late morning and meet at the
Hunting & Fishing Club, with informal visits to the
Camelot and Carlisle campsites during the afternoon.
We will be using the Hunting & Fishing Club only as a rendezvous point
this year - overnight will be at the Camelot or Carlisle
sites.
OVERNIGHT CAMPING: For those interested in overnight
camping, we will be camping at the former Camelot & Carlisle campsites.
NOTE: Food is BYO this year. (We're saving up for 2012 and
the BIG 30th!) So if you're going to get hungry while at the Creek,
you must plan on one of the following options:
a) fishing for your dinner in the creek
b) catching and cooking the appropriate wildlife in the area
c) stealing Randy's can of beans out of the campfire before it
explodes
d) bringing something with you...
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS: Visitors often stay at the Wingate Inn located at 402
Second Avenue, South
Charleston. (304) 744-4444. This and other nearby
hotels are listed when you do a Google search for South Charleston Hotels.
We look forward to seeing you this July as we make our annual pilgrimage
to The Creek! Stay tuned for updates as they develop and check the camp website
www.carbidecamps.net, or the Carbide Camps
Facebook page for updates, information and details.
Please confirm your attendance by responding to this email, or by
replying to Randy Rice on his Carbide Camps Facebook page.
Sincerely,
Your Reunion Committee
